Don’t Like to Blow My Own Horn, But…
This tune is part of a series where I’ve selected a category of instrument as the primary focus, which in this case is brass instruments. The main brass sound is from the FluidR3 General MIDI soundfont, accompanied by the trumpet section from BBC Symphony Orchestra and a “brassy” synth from the Surge XT VST. Also, one of the bass layers is tuba from BBC Symphony Orchestra. Sandwiched in are select instruments from MuLab, a drum loop from Looperman artist gdbcrew and additional percussion from Monster Drums.
Bold Eagle Dawn
Landed myself a copy of Spitfire Audio’s “BBC Symphony Orchestra Discover” sample pack. Such beautiful, high-fidelity samples! Looperman artist Eendee’s “Scarydrums” loop doesn’t sound frightening at all when partnered with the fanfare tones of the BBC Symphony Orchestra.
The Trees Are Full Of Forests
Here’s an action-adventure themed cinematic piece featuring energetic percussion loops, regal french horns, punchy brass sections and sprinkles of cinematic SFX.
Isle of An Caillte
A cinematic piece that starts out with a low, droning synth before a tribal rhythm sets the pace. This one came out sounding like a title sequence for a modern action-adventure game.
Teardrops in the Rain
Here’s a soft, relaxing cinematic piece with just a hint of melancholy. Built around a beautiful acoustic guitar sample from Sampletank on the iPad, accompanied by a string section backing a solo cello.
The Last Sunday
Here’s a short cinematic piece built with freely available samples, including the robust pack from Virtual Playing Orchestra. Done in the style of a trailer for an action/adventure movie. I’d love to see it put to some cool visuals! If you do, drop me a line! 🙂
The Future is Sci-Fi
Whenever my partner & I watch Enterprise, I find myself regularly skipping through the opening title sequence. I guess I’m hardwired to expect orchestral music in a Star Trek theme. So he suggested that I compose my own replacement for it. And here it is.
